Summer has arrived and so does the time of sunglasses, cool clothes, large brimmed sun hats and sunscreen……lots and lots of sunscreen 👒😎. Nobody wants to get an uneven tan or worst….sunburns. In such a tough time, Sunscreen comes as our saviour. Earlier I used to use Lotus Herbals Sunscreen. But with time I realised that Lotus products don’t suit me anymore. So, these days I am experimenting with other brands to find a sunscreen that works for me. I was searching for a sunscreen which
- Should not be sticky.
- Should not leave a white cast on skin.
- Should not make my skin feel smothered and should feel light.
- Should not be strongly fragrant.
- Provide enough protection from harsh sun rays.
- Should not break me out as my skin gets oily in summer.
During my search I came across this Vedic Line Natural Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15.
Product description :
A suitable lotion to protect skin from UVA and UVB rays of the sun. Combination of Aloe Vera and Burnt Zinc does not allow easy penetration of rays, prevents melanin from coming on surface.
Shelf life : 3 years
Price : INR 160 /- (for 120 ml)
The lotion comes in an inverted plastic bottle. Bottle is transparent so that you can see how much amount of your skin saviour or destroyer 😉 is left. It has a flip-top cap which shuts tightly. The bottle is travel friendly 👍.
My take on the product :
Lotion is white in colour and creamy in texture. Consistency is not runny. If you take a drop of it on your hand, it will hold its shape. But it’s not thick like a cream. On application, the lotion does not feel heavy and is absorbed quickly.
The best thing is that this lotion does not leave a white cast on skin as you can see in the above picture. It gives a little bit of cooling sensation too which feels very pleasant in scorching summer heat.
Fragrance is very mild and kind of herbal-minty. That too dissipates in a few minutes. This is a good thing because I don’t like to apply anything strongly fragrant on my face.
You may be thinking that SPF 15 is not enough. But SPF 15 provides protection from 93% UV rays as compared to SPF 50 and SPF 60 which give protection from 97% and 99% UV rays respectively. Plus, I avoid going out from 11 am to 5 pm in summer. So, I do not need very heavy sun protection. I think SPF 15 to SPF 25 is enough for me. This sunscreen gives me enough sun protection without smothering my skin.
- Gives enough sun protection.
- Suitable for all skin types.
- Does not feel heavy or sticky on skin.
- Does not leave a white cast.
- Feels cooling.
- No strong fragrance.
- Contains Aloe juice which soothes skin.
- Does not break me out.
- Not very costly.
- Travel friendly.
- Packaging says ‘Natural Sunscreen’ but it has many chemicals. But I am not sure if that is a con.
- Can’t think of any other con.
Overall rating : 10/10.
